Basic Care

This program is state funded and designed to assist individuals who need services provided by a licensed basic care facility. Eligible individuals must be disabled and at least 18 years of age, or age 65 and over. The program helps individuals pay for their room and board charges at the facility, so monthly income must be less than those costs. Individuals must also be eligible for Medicaid to be eligible for Basic Care. This program follows most of the rules for Non-ACA Medicaid. The look back period for disqualifying transfers is 36 months. Spousal impoverishment rules do not apply for married couples.
